What is Supported On-Demand Learning (S-ODL)?


Online HCS approved curriculum that is available at any time and includes pre-recorded lessons, interactive learning experiences, engaging activities, and supplementary offline “home” work managed through one platform. Materials provided include workbooks, grade level kits, manipulatives, and pacing guides. 


  • Students typically engage in HCS approved online curriculum and “home” work daily:  Grades K-2, 60-90 minutes for Math and ELA; Grades 3-5, 75-110 minutes for Math and ELA; Grades 6-8, 90-120 minutes for Math and ELA
  • Families ensure students complete online and “home” work, help students get organized, monitor engagement and learning, use the HCS approved resources, provide additional daily supplemental enrichment activities in Math and ELA. 
  • HCS teachers provide additional on demand lessons, supportive instructional opportunities, social interactions, and meet with families to monitor and guide student progress and achievement.
